DAY 3: A ROAD TRIP FROM POLAND TO BERLIN WITH A STOP OFF AT STALAG LUFT III.

Today, the veterans checked out of Poland and made their way to Berlin. There was one stop on the route. This was to visit Stalag Luft III, made famous by the feature film, "The Great Escape". This had a personal touch to one of our group, Chairman of Tri-Services Mr Geoff Harriman. He had spent a few days here in the past. Not as a prisoner, but as part of the team that reconstructed a replica of the prisoners living accommodation.

There was a quick trip to Zagan for lunch before heading back onto the minibus for a further 2-hour journey to Berlin. The group found a sneaky lane near the museum, that led to the original position of tunnel Harry. Something out RE veterans, Geoff and Chris wanted to see. So around 7 pm, the group managed to get to their last home on this journey. Just 2 more nights left, then they would be on their way back. Not people to waste time, the group quickly checked in, parked up, refreshed and headed out on a recce. The group saw a few local sights at night, such as Brandenburg Gate and the Berliner Dome before stopping for a coffee and doughnuts.  Another full-day ahead tomorrow.
